Brief Description
The Child Pornography (Prevention) Act (2009) stipulates provision for commercial sexual exploitation of children as a criminal offence. The Act applies to the production, possession, importation, exportation and distribution of child pornography, with penalties of up to 20 years imprisonment and high fines. It also aims to criminalize the production, importation, exportation and distribution of child pornography, as well as the use of children in such activities. The Act will ensure protection for girls who are the primary victims of child pornography in keeping with our commitment under the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action regarding the protection of the girl-child.
